It’s a finger-picking celebration of finger-licking affection.

The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band has a new music video out for its second single off of spankin’-new album So Delicious, and it’s called “Pot Roast and Kisses.” The five-and-a-half-minute romp was shot in a day in Brown County, where Team Peyton keeps a cabin home despite success that sees the group playing the likes of blues-loving Norway and more Euro-nations. All of which proves yet again that you can take the boy out of Southern Indiana, but …

Sample lyric: “I smell something sweet, cooking up in the oven/ I smell something sweet cooking up, but there’s nothing like her loving … Pot roast and kisses!” The clip, directed by Kevin J. Custer, features Washboard Breezy Peyton tickling her vintage instrument, newish addition Ben “Bird Dog” Bussell perched at the drums, a sextet of dancers, and a parade of “grizzled diner patrons.”

Reverend Peyton’s latest record, So Delicious, features songs titled “Let’s Jump a Train” (which the band did a great take on at WARMfest 2014), “Front Porch Trained,” and “You’re Not Rich.” If you’re not familiar with the band and its leader, Reverend Peyton’s style and ways are hardly shtick. He truly lives it. For a long look at the success, life, and times of Reverend Peyton & Co., check out Katherine Coplen’s cover story in this week’s NUVO.
