Amy Wimmer Schwarb, a former IM executive editor and currently a contributing editor, lives in St. Augustine, Florida—but don’t hold that against her. Her Indiana roots run deep, a subject she has explored more than once in the pages of IM. She has written about how an L.A. kid named Reggie Miller became an unlikely Hoosier; what James Dean’s legacy means today in the town that moved on without him; and why Indiana brand darling Vera Bradley sent its textile work to China. Schwarb grew up in Mt. Etna and earned a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Indiana University, where she was editor in chief of the Indiana Daily Student. Today, she freelances for magazines, news wire services, websites and trade publications and teaches news writing as an adjunct lecturer at the University of Florida School of Journalism and Communications. In Florida, she and her husband and two daughters spend their free time chatting up the drivers of cars with Indiana plates.
