Colts' Intriguing Week Has Laughs, Divorce, and a List

Cameos on NBC’s cult-hit sitcom. Owner Jim Irsay’s split from wife Meg. And the No. 1 spot on a top stadiums list. Indy’s NFL team has it all.

As it turned out, Andrew Luck’s cowbell pounding at a rock show was but a prelude. Suffice it to say, it was an interesting Thursday week for the Indianapolis Colts and their fans.

Luck, Reggie Wayne, Robert Mathis, and team owner Jim Irsay appeared in the cold open of the NBC sitcom Parks and Recreation Thursday night, marking the second time the squad and Lucas Oil Stadium have been featured on the show.

And speaking of Irsay, the 54-year-old and wife Meg announced just hours before his sitcom appearance that the estranged couple has officially filed for divorce after 33 years of marriage. Jim Irsay will keep “100-percent ownership of the Indianapolis Colts and his other business interests.” So, no, Colts fans won’t have to go through the emotionally stunting experience of having to spend weekdays with Meg, and weekends and holidays with Jim. (Even so, we bet holidays with Jim are never dull.)

In unrelated positive news, Lucas Oil Stadium has been named the best stadium in the NFL by Thrillist.com. The five-year-old brick edifice’s placement was based on location, an “easy stroll away from all of downtown Indy’s best restaurants,” its 350 concession stands with selections of “pork tenderloin sandwiches and Eisenberg Black Angus hot dogs,” and for its loud atmosphere when the retractable roof is closed.

They forgot to mention the guy pictured at left attends games.
