Swoon List: 5 Things We Adore Right Now

  1. 317 soda, created by Neal Brown for a local upstart called uFlavor, which is trying to put the words “artisanal” and “soda pop” together (our observation, not theirs). Brown’s drink melds clementine, bitters, vanilla, and pure cane sugar for a longneck drink worthy of a spot on The Libertine‘s shelf. It’s one of four sodas available to order as a 5-pack or 23-pack online (local pickup is available, too), along with a bright blueberry-flavored water concocted by the CEO of Zappos.
  2. The Two Lucy’s Blackberry Wheat beer at Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co. (1021 Broad Ripple Ave., 317-255-5151). Arrives purple and goes down easy, harboring a full but slinky taste, with blackberries brought in from Oregon.
  3. Black Market’s (922 Massachusetts Ave., 317-822-6757) slow-roasted trout, served in a pasta bowl with tendrils of sweet potato noodles, carrots, and mushrooms, all floating in a tantalizing broth.
  4. The wee creme brulee at Divvy (71 W. City Center Dr., Carmel, 317-706-0000)—an excellent version of the burnt-cream dessert served in a ramekin no bigger than a Barbie Doll’s Le Creuset.
  5. Gorgonberry Pecan salad at Bru Burger Bar (410 Massachusetts Ave., 317-635-4278), combining the sweet and savory elements of spicy-sweet candied pecans and gorgonzola.
