A House United

The Indiana State Museum exhibits Lincoln artifacts.

To those who would call him “The man from Illinois,” we offer this classic rebuttal: Abraham Lincoln spent his formative years in Spencer County, Indiana. So it’s fitting that a huge collection of Lincoln memorabilia arrives at the Indiana State Museum this month for a pair of exhibits called With Charity for All and With Malice Toward None. The former, which contains everything from the Emancipation Proclamation to Lincoln’s leather portfolio, will be on display until July 25. The latter, which includes Lincoln’s Bible (on which Barack Obama took the presidential oath) and the contents of his pocket the night he was killed, will close April 11. Opens Feb. 12. Free with museum admission, but reservations highly recommended. 650 W. Washington St., 232-1637, indianamuseum.org.
