Step into this 800-square-foot diner, a space so full of chrome and vintage bric-a-brac that it looks like a set piece lifted straight from Happy Days, and the first thing you will notice is the short-order cook manning two grill tops, expertly flipping pancakes, waiting for bacon to achieve the perfect crispness, stacking jagged-edged burgers onto grilled slabs of Texas toast. That guy is also the owner, Dan Iaria, whose restaurant bloodline includes the downtown Italian restaurant that goes by his family's name. At the counter, watch him prepare the Mr. Big Stuff: two fried eggs, a 10-ounce burger, and three pieces of hickory smoked bacon. “It just takes time to be able to figure out what your lead time on each item is,” Iaria explains. “And then, it's all in the timing.” The restaurant is known for its massive servings, its Mile High Club Sandwich, and its reissue of the Hoosier dairy soft drink, Choc-ola.
