The Broad Ripple location recently swapped its cheery chartreuse walls for a romantic wash of soft neutrals, and the new look suits the French staples and luxe champagne cocktails. Fortunately, Martha Hoover didn't dial back the menu. The most tempting dishes take her stylish-comfort-food formula in a decadent direction: a creamy, warm mushroom duxelles starter, clouds of goat cheese on simply dressed greens. The duck-fat–fried chicken, a weekly special, is becoming a new local legend. To top it all off, Petite Chou has done for crepes what Cafe Patachou did for cinnamon toast. The sweet-or-savory dilemma is no contest: dessert. The Brown Sugar version delivers a riot of textures with gooey caramelized filling, velvety bananas, and sugar that crystallizes into chewy nubs as you eat. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily.
