Attention, aspiring editors and writers!
Indianapolis Monthly has opportunities year-round for unpaid editorial internships. Interns' primary responsibility is fact-checking; they also do research for the editorial staff, and, as time allows, write small pieces for publication in one or more of our editorial products: Indianapolis Monthly, City Guide, Menu Guide, and Indy Shops. Interns are also expected to attend staff meetings and submit story ideas.
Candidates need to be extremely detail-oriented, with the ability to research myriad topics correctly and efficiently. The ability to hit the ground running and to change topics in a heartbeat will serve you well.
This internship is an excellent opportunity to see the inner workings of a magazine. It is not get-me-some-coffee-and-file-this. It is be your own thinker and problem-solver, think of story ideas, and contribute as a member of the staff.
If you find this interesting and believe you would be a good fit, submit your resume and some writing samples (no poetry, please) to Kim Hannel, Managing Editor.
