Indianapolis Monthly seeks a Special Sections intern. Responsibilities will include fact-checking and adding information to our Indiana Bride section, our Top Dentists list, and our annual School Guide. Interns can also pick up bylines for both IM and IndianapolisMonthly.com, contribute headline and story ideas, and attend meetings to learn about the inner workings of a magazine. Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask effectively are essential. Prospective interns must be undergraduate or graduate students at a college or university.

Indianapolis Monthly has opportunities year-round for unpaid editorial internships. Interns' primary responsibility is fact-checking; they also do research for the editorial staff, and, as time allows, write small pieces for publication in one or more of our editorial products: Indianapolis Monthly, City Guide, Menu Guide, and Shops. Interns are also expected to attend staff meetings and submit story ideas.
Candidates need to be extremely detail-oriented, with the ability to research myriad topics correctly and efficiently. The ability to hit the ground running and to change topics in a heartbeat will serve you well.
This internship is an excellent opportunity to see the inner workings of a magazine. It is not get-me-some-coffee-and-file-this. It is be your own thinker and problem-solver, think of story ideas, and contribute as a member of the staff.

We offer students a wide variety of opportunities not only in the areas of art and design, but also practical experience at a real magazine. That’s something you can’t get in school. In addition, interns come away with great portfolio pieces to help in that next, very important step of finding a job after graduation.Candidates should be detail-oriented, very proactive and have the ability to multi-task correctly and efficiently. Any candidate must possess a strong grasp of the Adobe Suite products, especially InDesign and PhotoShop. We support a MacIntosh environment.This internship is an excellent opportunity to see the inner workings of a magazine. Hello, aspiring digital doers!
IndianapolisMonthly.com has year-round opportunities for digital media internships, at least one each semester. This intern's primary responsibilities include reporting, researching, writing and editing blog posts for the website. Additional duties include documenting events, interviews, and the like by taking smartphone photos and/or capturing video, as well as obtaining images from photographers and sources to build photo galleries. This intern will also attend some editorial staff meetings and submit story ideas, headline input, etc.
IM's Digital Media Manager does not drink coffee; you will not be making coffee runs or anything of the like. This internship is unpaid, but you will be seen as a team member, with the responsibilities and perks that go along with that. You will have bylines and work featured at IndianapolisMonthly.com.
The ideal candidate is obsessed with accuracy. He or she knows how to work quickly and efficiently, a self-starter capable of handling multiple assignments at once. Possessing a cosmopolitan set of interests is a plus, especially if the candidate is interested in fashion/style, sports, politics, music, and/or arts and entertainment in general. A background in writing for the web is preferable but not required.
The candidate must be an undergraduate or graduate student at a college or university.
