Incoming: Mýa to headline Indy Pride Festival on June 8

Circle City IN Pride Festival has announced by way of its new mobile app that the organization will welcome multi-hyphenate artist Mýa to its stage on Saturday, June 8, 2013, as the main event’s headliner. The singer-actress-dancer has released such hit tracks as “Case of the Ex,” “My Love Is Like Wo,” and—with Christina Aguilera, Pink, and others—a cover of “Lady Marmalade” for the Moulin Rouge soundtrack, among other songs. She has also starred in the movie musical Chicago and appeared on ABC’s Dancing with the Stars program. “Lady Marmalade” won her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Collaboration in 2001.

In a prepared statement housed exclusively on the organization’s mobile app, festival co-chair Stephanie Swanson says of Mýa, “This triple threat is hot, hot, hot and she is ready to entertain Indianapolis and Circle City IN Pride!”

The Indy Pride Festival, as it is colloquially known, is now in its 25th year of public celebratory events, the first of which was in June 1988 on Monument Circle. Last year, Canadian R&B/dance artist Deborah Cox headlined the main Saturday show. The main Saturday event on June 9, 2012, drew 70,000-plus people, including families, according to an IMPD estimate.

Indy Pride has events scheduled for June 1-9 this year, more than a week of goings-on including the 2nd annual Rainbow 5K run and walk, Pride Skate, a girls’ night, and more. The full roster of happenings is available by downloading the organization’s app or visiting its newly revamped website.

Below are music videos for two of Mýa‘s hits. Do you look forward to her public, free appearance in Indianapolis?
