Steph Infection
The NBA is well under the spell of Steph Curry’s sick moves and dizzying barrage of 3-pointers, and this week, as the reigning MVP and Golden State Warriors rolled into Bankers Life Fieldhouse, former Pacers great Reggie Miller apparently turned to medicinal marijuana to manage the pain of being brushed aside. In an interview with The New Yorker—“Reggie Miller Sizes Up Steph Curry”—Miller, in large part, offers clear-minded homage to the current player to whom he is most often compared. But, toward the end of Charles Bethea’s article, in one of the story’s final quotes, things get fuzzy fast.
“All truly great shooters—Dale Ellis, Larry Bird, Craig Hodges, Chris Mullin—we always believed that we were the best shooters in the world,” said Miller.
He continued: “So, yeah, I’d take down Steph at my peak.”
“Sure, my form wasn’t as good as his. But it’s all about results, man.”
Curry has one NBA title to Miller’s none, but Reggie wins on humor.
Changing Their Stripes
IU is going bowling in December, but not the kind we’ve come to associate with the Hoosiers, who, by this time of year, are usually doing anything but playing football. For the first time since 2007, IU (6-6) will make a post-season appearance when it faces Duke (7-5) in the New Era Pinstripe Bowl on Dec. 26 at Yankee Stadium. Let’s hope IU’s football team doesn’t play defense against the Blue Devils like its basketball team did earlier this month.
Death Colts
Fresh off a 45-10 beatdown at the hands of the Steelers, the Colts’ Cavalcade of Misery makes a stop in Jacksonville on Sunday. A loss to the 4-8 Jaguars—once unimaginable—could throw the AFC Sloth into (further) chaos. The 6-6 Colts—who somehow lead the division by the tiniest of margins—have already crashed. Here’s hoping they don’t burn.
She’s Super
