Coming Soon: H&M in Bloomington

It’s back-to-school season, and the hip clothier will soon be all the more proximal and affordable for IU students and Monroe County residents.

Editor’s Note, Nov. 13, 2013: This store in Bloomington’s College Mall will open at noon on Nov. 14.

Attention, incoming and returning Indiana University students—you’re getting an H&M store.

The Swedish retail giant (nee Hennes & Mauritz) announced today that it will open a store in Bloomington’s College Mall sometime this fall. Among its 278 stores nationwide, H&M already has four locations in Indiana, including those at Circle Centre and Castleton Square Mall in Indianapolis, plus spots in Lafayette’s Tippecanoe Mall and Fort Wayne’s Glenbrook Square.

Trendy and affordable, that’s the H&M way. To that end, the clothier finally opened a U.S. online store on August 1. Speculation abounds about its rationale for not doing so sooner, and after two false starts to date. The new space in Bloomington will feature 19,000 square feet of affordable fashions for men, women, and children, plus even more fashion-forward styles for “young ladies” and “young men.”
