Video: Pacers Big Man Ian Mahinmi Talks New Clothing Line

The French baller on flashy dinner jackets, berets, and what his teammates wear.

Ian Mahinmi is one hard-working and well-dressed man. The 6’11” Pacers center previewed the new collection of fashion line French Deal after the team’s practice Monday. The line’s designer, Steeven Kodjia, traveled from France to join his friend and business partner, and the two introduced Indianapolis men to their take on sporty-smooth dressing in a special event at the Conrad.

Leather coats blend elements of varsity jackets and sport coats with lapels, banded waists, and contrasting sleeves. Zipper details and small buckles at the collars add  some edge. The most French item in the collection is the silky “T-Scarf” shirt with an integrated neckpiece in the same material, while the showstopper is the flashy “Elegance” dinner jacket shown in red leather with black-velvet lapels. All items in the collection can be ordered in a range of fabrics and colors.

Mahinmi himself wore a buttery leather “Advantage” jacket in a creamy shade of yellow and coordinating slim-cut pants. In the video above, he describes French Deal’s aesthetic, the pieces his teammates own (including new GQ fashion icon Paul George, featured in the March issue), and his thoughts on French hats. Plus: his accent!

French Deal is available online. See more of it in this behind-the-scenes video of a catalog shoot:
