Exclusive: The Fashion Mall Revs Up

Two new-to-Indy luxury brands are on the way.

Tesla, the California-based manufacturer of premium electric vehicles, will open its very first Midwest location at The Fashion Mall at Keystone this November. You’ll find the store in the Fashion Cafe next to Raleigh Limited Menswear, in the former spot of Brookstone, which is moving elsewhere in the mall. Tesla is slated to open sometime before Black Friday, well in time for the holiday shopping frenzy. The Model S was named the 2013 Motor Trend Car of the Year, a big victory for American-made sports cars.

“We have undergone a major renovation and have brought in impressive first-for-Indiana retailers that allow our mall to be a regional shopping destination,” says Patricia Bardin, a spokeswoman for The Fashion Mall. “Tesla’s presence will be another upscale element our shoppers are going to love.”

Another major “get” snagged by the Fashion Mall opens its doors today: Armani Jeans, which chose Indy as the locale of its second U.S. store (and its first store in a mall). The luxury denim boutique is in the Saks Fifth Avenue wing, between BCBG and Burberry.

So, why Indy? “This is the backyard of Simon Property Group,” says Bardin. “Our stores do incredibly well—many of them are doing the same if not better than their Chicago counterparts. So Armani Jeans is coming here for a reason.”
