New Store Alert: 14 Districts Pop-up Shop

A preppy-hip favorite now has an outpost at Carmel City Center

If you’ve been to 14 Districts on Carmel’s Main Street, you know they have the cutest Milly dresses and Henry & Belle denim in town. Now there’s 14 Districts Weekend, a pop-up women’s boutique from the same owner, Rebecca Hanson. Word on the street is that the pop-up is a little more laidback and the clothing has a California, easy-breezy vibe.

The location will be in the Carmel City Center through the winter holiday season. It’s a few doors down from Addendum, around the corner from Spin Cycle.

So how does Weekend differ from the flagship 14 Districts? Hanson told me the pop-up shop’s apparel is casual and relaxed—but not just for the weekend. Labels include Monrow, Chalet, Kersh, Joe’s Jeans, Clu, and one of my very favorite brands on the planet: Calypso St. Barth. When I see it, I can’t resist it, and am so glad someone has brought it to this city! It’s the epitome of easy-going glamour.

So why have the stores so close together? Having them nearby allows her to “tightly manage the growth of the 14 Districts brand,” says Hanson. Spoken like a true retailing pioneer.

If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Carmel City Center, I’d recommend an outing soon. It is chock-full of boutiques, cafes, restaurants, and one of my favorite places to exercise, Spin Cycle, which opened at the end of May. The parking is free and plentiful. Carmel City Center is quickly becoming a destination to shop, eat, and exercise, and the people-watching ain’t bad, either.
