As the World Wide Web goes, numbers don’t lie. And the #IndyIsHappy video co-parented by MediaFuel and Ikeconic digital agencies in town now has the stats to prove its success. The jovial, share-baiting clip, set to Pharrell Williams’s smash hit “Happy,” celebrates a number of the city’s venues, brands, and celebrities—and it’s got “legs,” as it were. Not bad for a four-minute clip in this age of Internet-view fatigue. It’s a tribute to the filmmaking that involved such landmarks as Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Victory Field, the Soldiers and Sailors Monument, and Broad Ripple spots such as Chumley’s, Brothers, Indy CD & Vinyl, and more. Brand ambassadors like Blue, the Indianapolis Colts mascot, and Butler Blue III, the Bulldogs’ wrinkly little fellow, make cameo appearances, as does Ann Dancing, Mass Ave’s digital-art lady, forever performing her own jazzy sway. IndyCar driver Josef Newgarden definitely dances best, top to bottom, in the footage. He impresses with or without his helmet, as he bounces on the IMS track’s pavement and then in front of the Pagoda.
