Lil Bub The Web-Sensation Cat Pairs With Oliver Winery

If you’ve wanted to meet Lil Bub, the famed “perma-kitten” with tens of thousands of followers across social networks, you may be in for a special treat this holiday weekend. The Internet-sensation kitty and Oliver Winery have teamed up for a fundraiser benefiting the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter. The event, appropriately dubbed Lil Bub’bly: A Sparkling Wine Toast to the Bloomington Animal Shelter, will take place this Saturday at Oliver’s new downtown Bloomington tasting room. A portion of the money from sparkling wine sales will aid the shelter, and Bub herself will be on location from 1 to 3 p.m.

Saturday’s event isn’t the first time Bub has helped raise money for animal shelters. In October, Bub met fans at the Bloomington shelter to encourage adoptions as part of the ASPCA $100K Challenge, and raised nearly a thousand dollars for the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition in New York during a meet-and-greet in November. After Hurricane Sandy, the online Bub store donated its proceeds for one day to the ASPCA Storm Relief fund, totaling more than $2,000.

Bub, known for her oversized green eyes and a pink tongue that always sticks out, skyrocketed to fame this year through various photos and videos posted to Tumblr, Facebook, and other social networking venues and has appeared on Good Morning America, Buzzfeed, Jezebel, The Huffington Post, and numerous other websites and media outlets.

Notes: Here’s our own piece on Lil Bub from July 2012 … she also made a video with rock musician Andrew W.K …  and she has a Facebook page promoting the needs of other animals, charities, and more.
