Video: Gaffigan Talks Indiana with Letterman, Gets 'Cut' by Colts

The jokester traded quips with his TV-host pal (you may or may not eat fish again) and had his fun with Reggie Wayne and Co. at training camp.
Comedian Jim Gaffigan descended upon fellow Hoosier David Letterman’s Late Show Tuesday night to talk about, among other things, his new book (Food: A Love Story), his distaste for seafood (clams and oysters are “snots on a rock”), doughnuts, and Indiana. “[It’s] a great state,” he says. “There’s great people and great characters. I was back, I guess, a year ago, and I was in my hometown, walking around the Kmart—or, as we called it, the mall.” You won’t believe what happened next. Roll footage:

The funnyman, a Chesterton native, also posted a clip on Twitter to his 2.1 million followers after being “cut” by the Indianapolis Colts organization. Punter Pat McAfee, wideout Reggie Wayne, the now-injured defender Robert Mathis, and a few more players—and one luminary—make cameo appearances. A bit surprisingly, an allusion is made to yesteryear’s infamous canal plunge.

Gaffigan says he visits Indiana twice a year, and his last visit to his Hoosier homeland was likely in August, when he dropped a comedy show, introduced by McAfee, at the Indiana State Fair. That appearance put 5,300-plus derrieres in the newly renovated Coliseum’s seats.
