Chris Pine Tops List of Indy Month-of-May Celebs Announced Today

The <em>Star Trek</em> actor will wave the green flag to start the Indianapolis 500, while TV stars Kevin Sorbo and Richard Rawlings will join the 500 Festival Parade.
The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced today that Star Trek movie actor and heartthrob Chris Pine will wave the green flag to start the 100th Running of the Indianapolis 500. Pine is the latest addition to a 2016 roster of Indy 500 celebrities that so far includes Keith Urban, Darius Rucker, and homegrown Voice champ Josh Kaufman.

The 500 Fest also announced its list of VIPs for the IPL 500 Festival Parade today. Among the more famous names are actor Kevin Sorbo of show Hercules, the Legendary Journey, and Richard Rawlings of the Discovery Channel’s Fast N’ Loud.

Other notables set to ride in the parade include the musical group Walk Off The Earth, IndyCar team owner Roger Penske, actor Nick Gehlfuss of Chicago Med, Hoosiers director David Anspaugh, Brady Bunch mom (and Indy 500 mainstay) Florence Henderson, and racing greats Mario Andretti, Johnny Rutherford, and Rick Mears.
