BUTLER WOMEN’S basketball had their three-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night, December 11, when they fell in double overtime to Wisconsin by way of a 71-64 final. Sitting at 9-3 overall, Butler found success early on in their matchup over their Big Ten foe, shooting 41 percent from the field in the first half while taking a 9-point lead into halftime.
While led by Sydney Jaynes and Riley Makalusky, who scored 13 points each, it was Wisconsin’s junior forward Serah Williams who posted a career-high 36 points and scored 15 throughout the fourth quarter and overtime combined.
Playing with the lead for 65 percent of the game, Butler’s game-high 19 turnovers were crucial as they seceded 15 points from turnovers to Wisconsin despite their bench producing 37 points.
Butler will face Santa Clara at home on Sunday, December 15, at 1 p.m. in their final non-conference matchup before the start of Big East play.
