Culture Q&A: Kate Micucci of Garfunkel and Oates

Musical-comedy duo Garfunkel and Oates plays the Egyptian Room on November 15. We chatted with Kate Micucci (Oates) before the show.
What’s your most-requested song?
“Pregnant Women are Smug” is a popular one. Often, someone wants us to sing it to their pregnant friend in the audience. And there always seems to be that guy who yells, “Hey! I’m pregnant!”
What’s it like working with Riki Lindhome [Garfunkel]?
She’s such a supportive friend. When we first met, we would go to California Pizza Kitchen and write our goals on napkins. A month later, we would go back to see what we had accomplished. “Make a Garfunkel and Oates TV show” has been on those napkins for years.
Have you talked to John Oates or Art Garfunkel about the name?
John Oates has been awesome! He’s in Episode 2 of our new show on IFC. The last time we were in Nashville, we went guitar-shopping with him. Still no word from Art yet.
