More than 160 young Hoosiers sent in tapes of their finest vocals for a chance to battle at the State Fair’s rendition of American Idol, its first-ever Vocal Throwdown.

Just watch out for that cameo from the top Manning in charge: Archie shows up late in the clip, and looks a bit too comfortable and natural wigging out.

The majority of these songs provide mellow-rock moodiness that begs for a beer or three. While that held true for this live show, it was also amped up a significant notch.

"We have [been to a lot of state fairs], but they all have a different vibe. The one thing they all share is great food stands. I’m going to eat a fried Snickers bar!"

Including the complexities of when to wear white (“Just never wear white”)and the perplexity of the sleeveless turtleneck (“Are you hot or are you cold? Make up your mind!”).
