Swoon List: King Dough, The Vanguard, And More

Five things we’re craving right now.

Bloomington’s King Dough (108 W. 6th St., Bloomington, 812-287-8931) offers more than just delectable wood-fired pizzas. We especially like the appetizer that features generously large meatballs, hearty red sauce, creamy ricotta, basil, and crusty bread.

The bacon-wrapped apricots from Oakleys Bistro (1464 W. 86th St., 317-824-1231) feature tequila-soaked apricots, hickory-smoked bacon, jalapeño kumquat, and a honey glaze.

Thunderbird (1127 Shelby St., 317-974-9580) offers up their take on the classic chicken and waffles with fried chicken atop a cheddar waffle and served with mostarda and honey syrup.

Adam Ditter’s recently reformulated fried chicken at The Vanguard (6319 Guilford Ave., 317-254-1147) with an ultra-crispy oat crust, peach butter, tangy house pickles, and a buttery drop biscuit—all comfort food at its finest.

A giant wedge of sweet, moist tres leches cake with peaches in the front half of the layer and chocolate in the back half, and fluffy-as-a-cloud whipped cream, at Ixca Mexican Kitchen (5537 E. Washington St., 317-986-4154).
