June 11th marks the first day of this summer’s Chow Down Midtown, and we’re closely watching restaurants (slowly) post their menus. Here is what to expect from a few of the 30-plus restaurants participating in the $30/three-course eating frenzy that runs through June 24th.
Oh Yumm! Bistro’s (5615 N. Illinois St., 317-251-5656) three-course menu will start guests off with a light and summery spinach salad with strawberries, toasted almonds, and crispy chevre drizzled with strawberry Melba vinaigrette.
Debbie Scott from the Indiana Restaurant Association tells us that Recess and Room Four (4907 N. College Ave., 317-925-7529) are offering the Chow Down deal all week this year (normally, they just do a partial week).
If the seemingly permanent cloud of smoke has kept you away from SoBro’s Moe & Johnny’s (5380 N. College Ave., 317-255-6376) in the past, the blown-out Chow Down menu might be the perfect excuse to head back in to celebrate the eatdrinkery’s new smoke-free state. For $30, they’re offering more upscale fare, including smoked salmon, roasted corn on the cob, and house-pickled cucumbers.
Our forks are ready to try out Sahm’s Place’s (2411 E. 65th St., 317-202-1577) Pig Pen, a bowl of penne noodles tossed in aged gouda and tomatoes and topped with Smoking Goose chorizo meatballs.
