» Downtown-dwellers will no longer need to drive up to SoBro for their fill of pulled pork and Italian beef. Fat Dan’s Deli (5410 N. College Ave., 317-600-3333) plans to open a second location at 555 Massachusetts Ave., according to the IBJ.

» If you happen to smell the aroma of freshly baked bread wafting through Circle Centre, that’s because Ben’s Soft Pretzels (49 W. Maryland St., 317-492-9141) is now open. And they’re not just any old mall pretzels. The dough recipe is from a third-generation Amish baker, who originally sold his glorious pretzels at the Elkhart farmers market and now has franchise locations in five  states.

» Housed on the ground-level corner spot at the trendy convergence of 16th and Pennsylvania streets, Penn & Palate (28 E. 16th St., 317-682-7962) will open this May. The owners of Irvington’s The Legend (5614 E. Washington St., 317-536-2028) are behind the 50-seat restaurant, which will serve a lunch and dinner menu of contemporary comfort food. Stay tuned for Sunday brunch and outdoor seating during the warm months.
