The Feed: Moon Rabbit Ramen, Gomez BBQ, And More

This week’s trends in Indy dining.
» As we eagerly await Neal Brown’s Japanese spot Ukiyo (4907 N. College Ave.), the busy chef has had another surprise up his sleeve. Brown announced on social media last week that he’s opening a lunch-only ramen pop-up, Moon Rabbit Ramen, inside Ukiyo. There’s no official opening date yet, but Brown did offer a cryptic, “See you in December.”
» Lots of new activity inside City Market (222 E. Market St., 317-634-9266) these days. Gomez BBQ opened a brick-and-mortar location last week, while Duos is set to roll out location No. 3 this week. And culinary power duo Cindy and Roger Hawkins (she of Circle City Sweets and Circle City Boulangerie; he of Circle City Soups), announced they purchased Miles Square Coffee Roastery, just upstairs from their busy market businesses.

» Mamma Mia Gelato (834 W. Main St., Carmel, 317-740-0113), is now open, serving espresso drinks and Italian-style ice cream. The locally owned shop is from the team behind Ristorante Roma (620 Rangeline Rd., Carmel, 317-848-4600), serving housemade pastas and traditional Roman Italian food since 2013.

» Bier Brewery (5133 E. 65th St., 317-253-2437) will release its popular Pumpkin Ale with a free party on September 15. They’ll start serving the seasonal favorite (voted No. 16 in the top 50 pumpkin beers by Beer Advocate in 2013) at 1 p.m., and the party starts at 6 p.m. with live music and food  from Moveable Feast and Alley’s Alehouse. Leave the kids at home; it’s 21-and-over only.

🎃Don’t worry, it’s coming 🎃
