Swoon: The Breakfast Club

In the beginning, it was just a hot plate, a panini grill, and a chef’s wild imagination. The only thing big about Wednesday night’s Second Breakfast at The Coterie in Kokomo was the huge reception for the evening’s one-off option—which could be anything from gingerbread French toast with candied hibiscus to this open-face riff on the BLT. “We were sending out the plates two at a time, as fast as we could make them,” says Kyle Gibson, owner of the scruffy upstairs bar overlooking the Howard County courthouse. It has since added a full kitchen—and, in June, opened a downstairs restaurant, The Wildcat. 107 W. Sycamore St., Kokomo, 765-450-5002
