Swoon List: 5 Things We Adore Right Now

  1. The food-styled Crazy Roll topped with shredded spicy crab and served with a carved-lemon head at Ichiban Sushi Bar & Sammy’s Asian Cuisine (8265 US 31 South, 317-883-1888). Almost too cute to eat.
  2. A dense, assertively sweet wedge of chocolate chip pie from Sisters’ Place (215 Terrace Ave., 317-631-0441)—more resembling a chocolate bar than any pastry we’ve tasted.
  3. Jambalaya at Papa Roux (City Market; 8950 E. 10th St., 317-603-9861), spicy miscellany of chicken, sausage, rice, peppers, and … oh, we could go on and on.
  4. Soft pretzels, served warm and with sidecars of cheese and grainy brown mustard for dunking, at Oaken Barrel Brewing Company (50 Airport Pkwy, Greenwood, 317-887-2287).
  5. The Greek salad at Greek Islands (906 S. Meridian St., 636-0700). Its robust, lemony dressing (described by the owner as “a basic Greek vinaigrette with oil, vinegar, and oregano—but it’s very specific oil, vinegar, and oregano”) is irresistible over cold, crisp iceberg lettuce, whole Kalamata olives, thick-cut cucumbers, tomatoes, and crumbled feta.
