» As we reported in March, chef Brandon Canfield left The Loft at Traders Point Creamery (9101 Moore Rd., Zionsville, 317-733-1700), and the restaurant was searching for a new head chef. Sous chef Toby Moreno, formerly of Plow & Anchor and Restaurant Tallent, has filled that position and will roll out his first menu as head chef this Thursday.

» Ryan Nelson, owner of Late Harvest Kitchen (8605 River Crossing Blvd., 317-663-8063) and The North End Barbecue & Moonshine (1250 E. 86th St., 317-614-7427), is participating in the James Beard Foundation’s Chefs Boot Camp for Policy and Change this week, where the primary discussion will focus on food-waste reduction.

» Giordano’s (43 N. Illinois St., 317-288-3415) opened its second Indiana location last week in downtown’s Illinois Building, and Hyde Park Prime Steakhouse is on track to become its neighbor by the fall. According to the IBJ, the restaurant, with locations in Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Michigan, will open in October. Cleveland-based Red, The Steakhouse has also picked downtown (14 W. Maryland St.) for the location of its first Indiana location, opening in September.
