This Week’s Trends in Indy Dining

» After a hiatus that included a stint as the head chef of the now-shuttered Nourish, chef Eli Laidlaw is back at his Alexander Hotel stomping grounds, serving as sous chef at the resident boite Plat 99 (333 S. Delaware St., 317-624-8220). He rolled out a new menu over the weekend, highlighting the likes of tzatziki panzanella salad, scallion pancake, poblano dumplings, and pecan financier cake with whipped espresso cream.

» Rocket 88 Doughnuts (874 Virginia Ave., 317-737-2614; 4909 N. College Ave., 317-602-6843), known for its vegan doughnuts and sandwiches, will launch a full breakfast menu at its Fountain Square location on the weekends. The bill of fare will focus on a variety of sweet and savory waffles, ranging from a vegan tempeh hash waffle to a peanut butter, chocolate, and banana waffle.

» According to the IBJ, a local husband and wife are opening a Fishers location (8890 W. 116th St., Ste. 120) of The Well Coffeehouse, a Nashville, Tennessee nonprofit that donates 100% of proceeds to erecting wells in third-world countries. Debbie and Tony Zancanaro, both medical professionals, are the first to open an outpost of The Well outside of Tennessee and are expected to open it by mid-August.
