Stanford’s Restaurant and Bar
With its glossy mahogany trim, businessman-sleek martini bar, and hard sell on an Eat, Drink, and Earn rewards program, this handsome replacement for Kincaid’s at Clay Terrace can’t hide its corporate-chain branding. The menu is packed with safe bets like smoked-chicken linguini, grilled salmon salad, and the requisite souped-up mac ‘n’ cheese. Elaborate saucing accompanies the serviceable steaks (as in a bleu cheese–crusted filet in a pool of thick balsamic demi-glaze) and burgers (there is a Surf & Turf Kobe version topped with Dungeness crab and a drizzle of bernaise). Dessert arrives in all forms of decadence, including a molten-centered chocolate cake.
