The Barking Dog Café

The menu at this wee New England–influenced eatery is tweaked seasonally, but perennial favorites include the lobster roll, served on a buttered and grilled hotdog bun with sweet chunks of lobster and a light mayo dressing, and soups, such as luscious clam chowder and a cheddar-ale version with a gentle kick of chili powder. During dinner, look for a constantly changing menu using seasonal and local ingredients, plus owner Mary Beth’s made-from-scratch desserts. Alcohol is not served, so bring your own vino (don’t forget the corkscrew).
