A person can do only so much online shopping, and you organized your closets during last month’s snow days. So here’s a productive and philanthropic way to spend a few hours while stuck inside this week: Gather some formal wear and donate it to a prom drive. Two events in April are taking donations now. Lesley West’s Prom Dress Drive has grown so much, this year it will take place on the floor of Bankers Life Fieldhouse (where her husband, Pacers leader David West, plays). There are currently drop-boxes at the Fieldhouse and at Turning Point Church (4501 N. Post Rd., 317-898-4420). Also, Aesthetic Design Style House, a company that helps local fashion businesses grow and score publicity, will stage The Gifted Gown this year. The organization is currently accepting new and gently used gowns, suits, men’s and women’s shoes, and accessories. You don’t even have to wash them—Deering Cleaners is volunteering its services. Call 317-721-1633 for a free pick-up at your house or drop off at one of these locations: ANSATZ Hair Salon (175 E. Ash St., Zionsville), Boomerang BTQ (845 Massachusetts Ave.), Little Green Bean Boutique (2809 E. 10th St.), Love’s Hangover (159 N. 9th St., Noblesville), and Queen Bee Vintage (111 E. 16th St.).
Have other stuff to get rid of, like books, medicines, or sports equipment? Here’s a list of places that need your goods—and good intentions.
