Shopportunities: Indiana Design Center, Righno Boutique, and More

Shopportunities abound with sidewalk sales, a trunk show, and the start to the art-fair season.
While drivers vie for a spot in the Indy 500 this weekend, several events offer compelling reasons for shoppers to steer away from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Various showrooms in the Indiana Design Center will make way for new merchandise during the annual sample sale 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 15 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 16. Two levels mean plenty of home decor, furniture, and accessories marked up to 50 percent off. 200 S. Range Line Rd., Carmel, 317-569-5975, indianadesigncenter.com

Also this Saturday, Carmel City Center lets you support entrepreneurial-minded kids while you browse both the latest summer styles and discounted goods. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., sip on a sweet summer beverage as part of Lemonade Day Indianapolis while checking out mobile boutiques Retro 101, Boho Pretty, and Stylestop. Several City Center shops, including Bath Junkie, 14 Districts Weekend, Addendum Gallery, In Cycle, and Bikeline, will hold all-day sidewalk sales. 720 S. Even shops and galleries in Carmel’s nearby Arts & Design District are joining in. Stylestop (formerly 14 Districts), Artichoke Designs, The Olive Mill, Soori Gallery, and Carmel Music Center are among those holding sidewalk sales on Saturday, May 16. carmelartsanddesign.com

Righno Boutique, one of Indy’s newest shops for fashion-conscious guys, hosts the On the Lawn trunk show Saturday, May 16. Spotlighted brands include California-based Richer Poorer, Swedish brand WeSC, and Wood Underwear. The show, running 2–6 p.m., also features DJ Cool Hand Lex, food, and giveaways. And ladies, there will be items for you to browse, too. 1103 N. College Ave., 317-796-4704, righno.com

More than 200 artists will proffer their goods—including jewelry, photography, metalwork, ceramics, and more—at the Broad Ripple Art Fair, Saturday, May 16, and Sunday, May 17, on the grounds of the Indianapolis Art Center. Our tip: Save yourself the parking hassle and hop on the free shuttle at Glendale Town Center. 820 E. 67th St., 317-255-2464, indplsartcenter.org/events/braf/
