Oh, happy day. Amazon.com’s PrimeNow service is a procrastinator’s dream come true, and now it’s available in the Indianapolis area.
A service for Prime members only, PrimeNow offers one-hour ($7.99) or two-hour (free) delivery of your Amazon order. (Yes, that’s “hour,” not “day.”)
Forget your spouse’s birthday? Have that special gift in-hand before you leave the office. Aunt Shirley coming by for a visit? You’ll make her day when you offer her pup’s favorite treats. Surprise invite to an after-work event? Order shoes, a blingy necklace, and a bag, and you’ll be stepping out in style without needing to stop by the house. Forgot favors and decorations for your kid’s party that starts in four hours? Order some neon shades and a cute red-and-white checked tablecloth, and you’ll be good to go in plenty of time. No time to drive to the store for that carton of milk? Not a problem with PrimeNow; you can have your Almond Breeze in-hand in a couple of hours.
We’re just the seventh city in the country to get the service, after Atlanta, Baltimore, Chicago, Dallas, Manhattan, and Miami. Prime members (who pay $99 per year) get free two-hour delivery, and one-hour delivery is available for $7.99. There’s a $15 order minimum. But when you’re on the couch craving some Ben & Jerry’s, and too lazy to hit the grocery store, who cares?
Here are 10 things you can get in 60 minutes or less:
Mr. Bar-B-Q, Inc. 40197X Picnic Table Condiment Set, $10.53
Ben & Jerry’s Half Baked Ice Cream, $3.99
Big Mouth Toys Ultimate Wine Bottle Glass, $13.52
Amazon Fire TV, $99
Where the Wild Things Are paperback, $6.09
Star Wars Trilogy Episodes IV–VI, $41.17

Download the free app to your mobile device (Apple or Android) and enter your Indy zip code to see if you’re in the delivery zone. Amazon promises to expand the service “quickly” to additional zip codes across the city.
The company touts “tens of thousands” of items available, in categories from Everyday Essentials to Chilled and Frozen to Gift Ideas. Excuse us while we grab that pair of shoes we’ve been coveting; there’s a party tonight!
