Get your geek on: As thousands of gamers and vendors flock to Indy for this week’s Gen Con, Circle Centre is capitalizing on the convention by hosting two temporary pop-up shops. Geek Chic and Retro101 will open on the mall’s third floor on Wednesday, July 29, the day before Gen Con begins, and close down along with the convention on the evening of Sunday, August 2.
Bonus: 50 gaming tables will be set up in the food court.
Gen Con attendees can check out the woodwork on Geek Chic’s bespoke furniture (think custom gaming tables with perks like pull-out drink holders) in person before placing orders. Indy’s “Boutique on Wheels,” Retro101, will set up shop selling only locally sourced items, including merchandise from Fishers T-shirt shop Vardagen, gourmet popcorn shop Just Pop In, and Frittle candy-maker Newfangled Confections. Retro101 is also known for its snarky merch, like tanks reading “Feed Me and Tell Me I’m Pretty” and “Real Housewife of Carmel” flasks. The shop will host a Femme Fatale Fashion Show on Saturday, August 1, at 7 p.m.
Check out the pop-up shops on the third floor of Circle Centre, near the Indiana Convention Center entrance, all during Gen Con.
