Indy 500 Snake Pit & Carb Day Rosters Released

From straight-up rock nostalgia to crowd surfing over blaring bass-drops, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will be thumping over Memorial Day weekend.

For those who enjoy swimming in “a sea of beer-can carcasses,” much fun is coming your way. Also, there will be glamping. (For the philistines among us: That’s glorified camping.)

Coors Light Carb Day

Legendary “Red Rocker” Sammy Hagar headlines on May 23, with 1990s reggae-rock radio stars Sublime With Rome sharing the bill. The former is a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer supported by his band, The Wabos, and the latter was formerly known simply as Sublime. SWR changed its name as part of a settlement with deceased former frontman Bradley Nowell’s estate. Now led by Rome Ramirez, the band will trot out hits like “Santeria” and newer fare both.

Indy 500 Snake Pit

Hours before the racers start their engines on May 25, the Indy 500 Snake Pit will be firing on all cylinders. The annual party starts at 7 a.m. and won’t stop until the end of the race (if then). And if it’s anything like last year’s event, attendees are in for another treat, as the Indianapolis Motor Speedway will welcome another hot EDM lineup. (For the uninitiated, that’s electronic dance music.) Up-and-comers NERVO and Dillon Francis will get the crowd ready for the hugely popular Hardwell. At 26 years old, he’s the youngest disc jockey to ever appear atop the heap of DJ magazine’s Top 100 DJs of 2013.

IMS, 4790 West 16th St. Admission requires a race ticket plus a $10 Snake Pit ticket. Tickets at indy500snakepit.com
