Racing Greats Lined Up for IMS Honors in May

Legendary team owner Roger Penske will drive the Indy 500 pace car, and past winners are set to gather at the Speedway on Legends Day.

The Indianapolis Motor Speedway announced last night that dominant team owner Roger Penske will drive the 50th Anniversary Camaro SS Pace Car at the Indianapolis 500 on May 29. Penske notches his 50th year as an owner this year, and his teams have won the Indy 500 16 times.

On May 28, winning Indy 500 drivers including A.J. Foyt, Al Unser, and others will gather at the track to be honored for Firestone Legends Day, the IMS announced today. The former drivers as well as the full field of 33 starters for the 2016 race will attend autograph sessions with fans.
