“She Was Stark … Nekkid”: WWII Vet Recalls VE Day Celebration in WIBC Interview

On the 70th anniversary of the Allied victory in Europe during World War II, veteran and longtime Indiana broadcaster Jim McDowell had a ‘revealing’ conversation with WIBC’s Ray Steele.
World War II veteran and longtime Indiana broadcaster Jim McDowell has some fond—and colorful—memories of the VE Day celebration that broke out 70 years ago in England, where he was stationed at the time.

As WIBC’s Ray Steele learned when he interviewed the 92-year-old Broad Ripple resident, some of McDowell’s recollections are particularly vivid.

“I have known Jim for a few years, and you always know talking to him is going to be fun,” says Steele.   “There aren’t many 42-year-olds with the easy smile and laugh as 92-year-old Jim.”
