Winnie Ballard, Colts Fans & More Turn Canal Pink

Rain did not dilute the hue nor the attitude of today’s Pinking of the Canal put on by the Indianapolis Colts and Hard Rock Cafe. For the third year, Colts organization staffers, volunteers, breast-cancer survivors and cure seekers, and friends turned the canal pink to recognize National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Colts cheerleaders, along with the team’s mascot, Blue, and Super Fan Michael Hopson all donned their best pink in support of the event.

Indiana University Health, the American Cancer Society, and the IUPUI chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha national women’s fraternity joined together to promote awareness and raise money for breast cancer research. Due to rain, the event had to be moved indoors to the Indiana Government Center Atrium, but that did not stop Indianapolis’ First Lady, Winnie Ballard, and supporters from turning the canal a vibrant shade of pink. Local cover-band favorite Dave and Rae provided live entertainment, and Colts cheerleaders autographed limited-edition pink Colts posters at the event.
