From the giant, gooey cinnamon rolls served in cast-iron skillets to the six-page menu of breakfast, brunch, and lunch options, there’s nothing subtle about Louisville-based chain Wild Eggs. That’s its appeal, though. Families pack into the spacious, airy dining room to choose from numerous newfangled classics cooked with precision, like textbook-thick, fluffy buttermilk pancakes that nearly overtake the plate, swiped with lemon curd and sprinkled with fresh raspberries. Even the freshly baked Everything Muffin served on the side of most dishes has a dense, moist interior with just enough garlic and chewiness that you continue to nibble on it when you’re well past full. The restaurant lives up to its name with more than 20 egg options, ranging from a deliciously restrained scramble with wild mushrooms, goat cheese, and truffle oil to the outrageously stuffed Creole omelet teeming with shrimp, andouille sausage, peppers, onions, cheese, and a drizzle of spicy hollandaise sauce. While you’re waiting and watching plates of sizzling fried potatoes go by, pour yourself a cup of the earthy, slightly fruity house blend coffee from the station in the lobby. Breakfast and lunch daily.
