Road Trip: Hot House Market in Lafayette
Treasure-hunt at this shop owned by Brooklyn Flea dealers.
If you Boiler Up for Purdue football games, arrive early and detour to Hot House Market, a super-cool vintage shop close to campus. This is the permanent outpost for a hip couple that often sells at the Brooklyn Flea, plus Chicago events. Filled with a darling mix of bohemian and retro treasures displayed cottage-style, it’s like Indiana’s version of Anthropologie—and reasonably priced. Chipped-paint bureaus and low-slung couches and chairs that won’t need to be reupholstered set the stage under Chinese lanterns and upside-down parasols hung from the ceiling. Short denim overall dresses (are these back?) hang on a weathered door propped behind a wrought-iron bed. Neat racks of clothing fill the back room. If you’re looking for broken-in granny or cowboy boots, this is the place. Browse our photo gallery for more favorite finds. 900 Kossuth St., Lafayette, 765-490-7968, hothousemarket.blogspot.com.
