Wrap Session

Truth be told, I love wrapping gifts even more than I love getting them. From choosing the prettiest paper and coordinating trim, to folding the perfect edges around each box (because everything wraps up better when it’s in a box), to tying on a bow or other final flourish—yes, I’m a gift-wrapping dork. To people like me (I know they’re out there), getting The Container Store’s online Holiday Look Book is like snagging a September issue of Vogue. The chevrons! The stripes! The jewel tones! But my current favorite is this simple faux bois design, which I’d finish with thick red yarn—also perfect for the rustic-cool burlap trompe l’oeil paper. Browse the goods online, then order right then and there or stop by the Indy store to see ’em in person. 4120 E. 82nd St., 317-348-2225

Design-Your-Own Manolos

Manolo Blahnik fans, listen up: Now you can customize a pair for yourself, choosing the heel height, color, and fabric. Pick one of his classic styles … decide if you want to tower on stilettos or go for a more everyday heel … choose a hue … and select suede, satin, or leather. To do it, attend the custom-shoe trunk show at Saks Fifth Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, November 7. Once you’ve done the designing, delivery time is four to six months.
