New: Warby Parker Opens In The Fashion Mall

The online eyewear provider opens a brick-and-mortar store on the city’s north side featuring murals painted by local artist Nat Russell.

Colorful displays of books, open wood shelves, and a sleek marble reference desk. At first glance, you’d think you stepped into a Silicon Valley library rather than a retail eyewear store. That’s exactly what eyeglasses retailer Warby Parker had in mind for its first Indiana store, in The Fashion Mall, opening Saturday, May 19. Famous as an online-only retailer, the 8-year-old eyewear disruptor aims to keep the customer in mind while providing stylish yet affordable frames starting at $95. Advisors armed with tablets can be found throughout the store to assist customers, and opticians are available to fill prescriptions and make adjustments.

Nonprescription lenses and sunglasses are available immediately, while prescription glasses are shipped within a few days. As an added bonus to the classic, stylish WP designs, the company’s Buy a Pair, Give a Pair program distributes glasses to someone in need with every purchase. The new store has a few features unique to Indianapolis. Indy artist Nathaniel Russell contributed the nerdy-cool murals. And the grand opening brings in limited-edition sunglasses found only at The Fashion Mall location, such as the “Topper” (a round style with a few squarish angles) in Crystal with flash-mirrored silver lenses, starting at $95.
