About

Indianapolis Monthly, the city’s authoritative general interest magazine, provides its loyal monthly readers with compelling narrative stories and smart, lively service pieces. The magazine won the 2014 general excellence award in its circulation category from the City and Regional Magazine Association, and its content not only reflects the interests of Indianapolis but sparks conversation with its coverage of politics, sports, crime, lifestyle, entertainment, restaurants, culture, business, and the big personalities that make the Circle City go ‘round. IM sets the standard for editorial excellence in every facet of its storytelling, from the whip-smart front-of-book to the bold photography and design, and aims to surprise, delight, and inform its 209,000-plus monthly readers and 41,000 monthly subscribers.

Founded in 1977 as Indianapolis Home and Garden, the magazine became Indianapolis Monthly in 1981 and was sold to Emmis Communications in 1988. In 2022, Hour Media purchased Indianapolis Monthly.
