Three of the 10 best hotels in the Midwest are in Indianapolis, Condé Nast Traveler readers have decreed. At least, the Midwest outside of Chicago, which gets its own list. But still! Impressive.
A survey of more than 300,000 readers, to be published in the November issue, anointed our JW Marriott the No. 1 hotel in the Midwest—and the No. 10 hotel in the entire United States. Says the magazine: “Located in central downtown, close to Watanabe Garden, Military Park, and the wildly underrated Eiteljorg Museum, the JW Marriott is the perfect place to explore Indy for the first time.”
The Conrad Indianapolis also made an appearance on the Midwest list, ranking No. 3. Condé Nast Traveler praised its impressive artwork (a Warhol here, a Dali there) and furnishings by the likes of Jonathan Adler and Philippe Starck, and also threw in a plug for Bluebeard, noting it’s just an eight-minute cab ride away. “This high-class crash pad is every businessperson’s dream … and has no problem pulling double-duty for a long girls’ weekend (see: the in-house hair salon for last-minute gussying up) or a family trip,” proclaims the mag.
And for the first time, The Alexander made it onto the Midwest list, coming in at No. 10. With its emphasis on art, design, and local flavor, it’s hardly a surprise that the downtown hotel is getting noticed.
