On a clear night, the Donatos Downtown Freedom Blast pyrotechnics set off atop the Regions Bank Building can be seen within a 10-mile radius of the heart of Indianapolis. The director of those proceedings, John Maxwell, told us that he and his team come prepared with 10,000 shells, and attendance numbers in the tens of thousands annually. Above is video of the 25-minute firework bonanza condensed into an 80-second time-lapse clip.
Friday evening’s festivities went off without a hitch downtown, and Mother Nature played nice in producing temperatures in the upper 60s.
