Garden of Eatin’ comes to Broad Ripple

Myka Gurvitz celebrates the sandwich generation at Eve’s Garden Deli in Broad Ripple.

FOR MYKA GURVITZ, cooking for others is an act of service. Gar, “Seeing the smiles on their faces, making people happy, and loving them through their stomachs is awesome,” she says.

Opened in June, Eve’s Garden Deli holds the distinction of being the first registered Black-owned deli in Indiana. Gurvitz originally launched her enterprise in Lawrence during the pandemic when she and her family got tired of eating fast food. A brick and-mortar shop led to a now-defunct food truck she hopes to revive, and ultimately to a new Broad Ripple home in the former Nicey Treat space. Food options include fresh breakfast sandwiches, salads, smoothies, baked goods, and a “Silly” baked potato loaded with chicken, egg, veggies, and cheese. “I like to say our menu is delightful and very tasteful,” she says. “I believe there’s something on there for everyone.”

Gurvitz welcomes customers by encouraging them to sign her chalkboard wall of fame.
