OPEN SINCE JUNE, Big Lug Filling Station commands the old Garfield Brewery spot, preserving the property’s original gas station aesthetic. Although the tap room follows loosely in the footsteps of its Nora counterpart, owner Eddie Sahm is mindful about respecting the unique character of the Garfield Park community. “When we talked about what a second Big Lug would look like, we decided it was less about repeating a look or menu and more about how we fit into a neighborhood,” he says. Customers can expect Big Lug’s flagship brews on tap (heads up—the 50-seat bar space inside is 21+), along with pizzas, baked sandwiches, and shared apps like cognac-sauteed stuffed mushroom caps, oven-baked Ricky Bobby wings, and meatball baba ghanoush.
