The Swoon List compiles our latest food-and-drink favorites. They’re not ranked, just delicious.
The roasted free-range chicken casserole at the downtown Hyatt’s new Fat Rooster Diner (1 S Capitol Ave., 317-616-6160) that replaced its atrium-side One South. Hunks of chicken rest in a garlicky, spicy cream sauce under a tumble of softly toasted sourdough croutons.
A peppery breakfast slider (buttery scrambled eggs, thick bacon, cheese) on a perfect housemade cheddar biscuit at Circle City Soups (City Market, 317-632-3644).
Punch Burger’s (12525 Old Meridian St., Carmel, 317-564-0637; 137 E. Ohio St., 317-426-5280) delicious disaster: the Burnt Cheese burger, which features a grill-crisped sheath of incinerated dairy atop a juicy patty.
A plump slab of seared wild striped bass, among the entrees at Vida (601 E. New York St., 317-420-2323) right now. Basil-ricotta gnudi—chewy, cheesy dumplings—join wisps of jowl bacon, fava beans, and a preserved lemon relish to punctuate the flavors.
Severin Bar’s (40 Jackson Place, 317-634-6664) perky, citrus-y Lemon Poppy Gimlet, as tart as a Sour Patch Kid, flecked with poppy seeds, and oddly refreshing.
