Bum Steer
Texas A&M is suing the Indianapolis Colts for infringing on its “12th Man” trademark. That’s fine, but the Aggies are opening themselves up to charges of fraud. Lots of pain and suffering here.
Out of Luck
Just when it looked like the Colts might turn the corner, the franchise revealed that quarterback Andrew Luck suffered a lacerated kidney and partially torn abdominal muscle in Sunday’s win over Denver. Luck is expected to miss two to six weeks—and possibly longer. It could be worse. The Colts did try to bring in retired quarterback Jason Campbell.

Well, at least the Colts (4-5) still lead the AFC Sloth, right?
Greatest Hits
As Peyton Manning zeroes in on some all-time NFL records, ESPN’s Jeff Legwold has put together an “All-Peyton Manning Team.” Two big disappointments: 1) Despite what the team name clearly implies, NONE of the players are named Peyton. 2) This kid was left off the list. Rip-off.
Thumb Dah-Dum-Dum
After an 0-3 start to the season, the Indiana Pacers have fought back to win five or their last six, and stand a good chance to go two games over .500 with a win Friday at home against the Timberwolves.
But now word comes that rookie Myles Turner, a surprise contributor in the early going, will miss time with a fractured thumb.
For the Bell of It
Wabash (9-0) and DePauw (8-1) meet for the 122nd time in the annual Monon Bell Classic on Saturday. The winner will get an automatic bid in the NCAA Division III playoffs. The Little Giants own a 59-53-9 series advantage and have won the last six meetings between the two schools. Can the Tigers break the streak?
